Overview

This route covers, in eight days, the places most people want to see on a first trip to Egypt. You start in Cairo with the Giza pyramids, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum, then fly south to Aswan to board your Nile boat.

From Aswan you drive to Abu Simbel, about 280 km to the south, to see the two rock-cut temples of Ramesses II. Back on board, the boat sails downriver with stops at Kom Ombo and Edfu before reaching Luxor.

In Luxor you visit Karnak and Luxor Temple on the east bank, and the Valley of the Kings and the temple of Hatshepsut on the west bank. A domestic flight then takes you back to Cairo for your trip home.
